What free means here
Free means the full result, not a teaser. A public scan gives you the verdict, the complete pre-consent cookie list, the complete third-party request list, both screenshots, the Consent Mode v2 signals, the evidence hash and a permanent public link you can send to a client.
The limits are on how often, not on how much: 3 scans per IP per day and 1 scan per site per hour. Those numbers exist because each scan runs a real browser, and they are published here so nobody has to discover them by hitting a wall.
What the paid plans are for
Paying gets you repetition and delivery: several sites in one place, scheduled re-scans, an email or Slack alert when a new tracker starts firing before consent, longer evidence retention, a white-label PDF for the client, and team seats.
None of that is a gate on the checker itself. The single-URL check does not get worse over time, because the free scan is how people find this product in the first place.

- Is the cookie checker really free?
- Yes, and without an account. The rate limits are 3 scans per IP per day and 1 scan per site per hour; there is no email wall, no card, and no partial result held back for an upgrade.
- Why do other free checkers ask me to register?
- Because for most of them the checker is a lead magnet for a consent banner subscription. We do not sell a banner, so the scan does not need to be bait.
- What happens when I hit the daily limit?
- You get a message saying when the limit resets, not an upgrade prompt. The counter resets at 00:00 UTC.
