Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and WANG WENJIE, the operator of ConsentProof. The two that matter most are short enough to state here: you may only scan websites you own or are authorised to audit, and a scan result is evidence about what a browser observed — not legal advice and not a certificate of compliance.
Effective 2026-09-07
1. The agreement
By running a scan, creating an account or paying for a plan you accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of an agency or a company, you confirm you may bind it. ConsentProof is operated by WANG WENJIE; "we" and "us" mean that operator, and "you" means the person or organisation using the service.
2. Acceptable use — whose sites you may scan
Pointing a real browser at somebody else's website is a normal thing for a browser to do, and an abnormal thing to do a thousand times. This clause is the line between the two.
- You may scan a website only if you own it, operate it, or have the owner's authorisation to audit it. By submitting a URL you warrant that one of those is true.
- You may not use the service to test, probe, stress, overload or attack a site, or as any part of an attack on one.
- You may not attempt to circumvent the rate limits, run the service through a proxy pool to multiply the free tier, or automate the public scan endpoint outside the published limits.
- You may not submit URLs that require credentials to reach, or use the service to reach anything behind an access control.
- You may not resell raw access to the scanner as your own scanning API. Including our reports in a service you deliver to your own clients is exactly what the Agency plan is for, and is encouraged.
- You may not use the service unlawfully, or to build a dataset about people rather than about consent behaviour.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks this clause, and we will say why. Public scanning is limited to 3 scans per IP per day and 1 scan per site per hour so that one person cannot make the free tier expensive for everybody else.
3. What the service is, and what it is not
ConsentProof loads a page in a real browser, records which cookies were set and which third-party hosts were contacted before a visitor consented, clicks the consent banner, reloads, records the same things again, and stores both captures with a timestamp and a hash. That is the whole of what it claims to do.
- It is not legal advice. We are not your lawyers and a result is not an opinion on whether you comply with any law.
- It is not a certification. No verdict from this service is an approval, a seal, a badge or a defence. A regulator is not bound by it.
- It is not a consent platform. We do not serve a cookie banner, write your cookie policy or manage consent records. Keep the consent platform you already use — the value of an independent test is that it is not run by the vendor being tested.
- A pass is not proof of lawfulness, and a fail is not proof of a breach. A scan sees one page, from one location, at one moment, in one browser configuration. Sites vary by geography, by consent framework, by A/B test and by day.
- Detection is imperfect. Consent platforms change their markup, banners change their wording, and a page can behave differently for a headless browser. We report what we observed and give you the screenshots so you can check us.
You remain responsible for your own compliance and for the decisions you take after reading a report.
4. Accounts and seats
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials safe. Tell us promptly if you think an account has been compromised.
| Plan | Monitored sites | Fastest schedule | Evidence history | Seats included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | Manual | 7 days | 1 |
| Pro | 25 | Weekly | 90 days | 2 |
| Agency | 50 | Daily | 365 days | 5 (extra seats $5/seat/month) |
The limits above are enforced in the product, not merely described here. On the Free plan alerts are recorded against your sites but not delivered by email or Slack; the records stay visible in the app.
5. Plans, billing and trial
- Pro is $19 per month, or $180 per year billed as one annual charge ($15 per month equivalent).
- Agency is $49 per month, or $492 per year billed as one annual charge ($41 per month equivalent).
- Extra Agency seats are $5 per seat per month, or $60 per seat per year, added to the same subscription and renewing on the same cycle.
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Stripe Tax adds VAT or sales tax at checkout where it applies, based on your billing country and any tax id you enter.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
14-day free trial on Agency. No card required — we ask for one when the trial ends, and nothing is charged before then.
If you add no card, the workspace drops to Free when the trial ends. Nothing is charged automatically.
Payments are taken by Stripe. A failed payment does not immediately remove your access: a subscription that is past due keeps its entitlements while the card is retried, because cutting a customer off before their bank has finished trying is worse for both of us.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, without asking us and without a retention call. Go to Account, choose Manage billing, and cancel in the Stripe customer portal. The same portal is where you change plan, change card, download invoices and add seats.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, and the workspace then drops to Free — sites above the Free limit stop being scanned rather than being deleted, and evidence outside the Free retention window is pruned by the nightly job.
7. Refunds
We refund the first payment on a new subscription in full if you ask within 14 days. No form and no reason required — email the address at the bottom of this page from the account address.
The full policy, including renewals, seat charges and how long a refund takes to arrive, is on the refund policy page.
8. Your data and your evidence
Your sites, scans and reports are yours. We store and process them to run the service for you, as described in the privacy policy, and we do not sell them, share them with advertisers or use them to train models.
We may report aggregate, de-identified statistics about consent behaviour across the whole service — for example how often a given tracker fires before consent across all scans. Such figures never identify an account, a workspace or a customer's client.
White-label reports on the Agency plan may carry your own logo and colours with our attribution removed. You are responsible for what you tell your own clients on the strength of them.
9. Availability
The service is provided as-is and as-available. We do not offer a service-level agreement, and scheduled scans depend on infrastructure we do not own. If a scheduled scan does not run, the evidence for that day is simply missing — it is not reconstructed after the fact, because evidence that was never captured cannot be manufactured later.
We may change or withdraw features. If we withdraw something you are paying for, we will tell account holders by email before it happens.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or regulatory fines or penalties imposed on you or on your clients.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here removes rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to account holders before they take effect, and continuing to use the service after that is acceptance. The effective date at the top of the page is the date of the current wording.
